L605 / Haynes 25 Alloy is cobalt-based wrought alloy that is resistant to oxidation and carburization coupled with excellent high temperature strength. L605 is composed primarily of cobalt (Co), with a specified mixture of chromium (Cr), tungsten (W), nickel (Ni), iron (Fe) and carbon (C), as well as small amounts of manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), and phosphorus (P). The tungsten and nickel improve the alloy’s machinability, while chromium contributes to its solid-solution strengthening.l605 is purely cobalt based alloys.

Heat treatment:

Bars shall be solution heat treated by heating to a temperature within the range 2150 to 2250 °F, holding at the selected temperature within ±25 °F for a time commensurate with section thickness, and cooling at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster. Hardness of bars 277 HB max.
